Customer Review: Good pitcher - filters need work tho

I've had my pitcher for about a year now and I love the color. It holds a nice amount of water and does a decent job of removing the bleachy smell my water has. It filters pretty fast and washing it from time to time is pretty easy. I only have two complaints - the little display on top never worked. Brita enclosed a note that it would stop working after a while but the pitcher would still be fine to use even if it didn't work. Seems silly to add a feature that would knowingly quit working - and mine never worked. It doesn't matter to me but if you need a reminder to change your filter, this isn't the pitcher for you. My other issue is with the filters. The carbon constantly comes out of the filter and into the water in both reservoirs. I see lots of black dots floating in the top part when the water is filtering and then when you get to the last glass of filtered water there's carbon dust and black dots in the bottom. I know it won't harm me but still it's kind of gross to see it floating around in the water. I've had this happen with every single filter I've used so this is definitely a brita filter issue. If you love pink, you'll love this. This is my second brita (I still have the first one I bought about six years ago) and I think I'll have this for a very long time.Customer Review: Top falls off.

I have trouble with the lid always falling off. You have to careful every time you handle the pitcher, not only when pouring but also just when removing it from the fridge as it has no "locking" device and just sits on top! Also the grey part of the handle pops off very easily! Seriously? That being said it does wonders removing the chemical taste from my water. Other reviews have mentioned the black floaties and mine does not have that, there are some in the upper resivoir part but never in the filtered portion.Customer Review: Black Granules Everywhere!

I've had this pitcher for about 18 months. Everytime I replace the filter cartridge, I follow the directions about soaking the cartridge to no avail. So many granules come out during the soaking process. But, so many more come out once the cartridge is installed! Who wants black stuff in their water? I gave it a chance, through 5 cartridges. The water didn't taste much different, either. Time to try a different one.
