I decided to give Brita Riviera Water Pitcher a try after reading the online reviews.
When I first bought the pitcher, I wasn't sure why the front cover kept falling off so I decided to return it back to the store but I picked up another one where the front and back part of the top cover fits well. After examining few of the same pitchers in store, I noticed many of them had a cover that didn't fit well for this particular model. I believe this is due to the curvy design of the top cover. Make sure you choose the one where the cover fits snugly. For the one that doesn't fit well, you will notice that there is a space between the cover and the clear plastic bottom part of the pitcher if you look at it from the side. Also from reading the review others have wrote, the timer indicator seems like it's just a monthly indicator and also useless when exposed to water. I decided to just wash the whole thing with soap and water anyways since I rather have a clean pitcher then a useless timer. To my surprise, the timer still works even after I washed the whole thing with soap and water. Lastly, I didn't expect much about the water taste since I'm already drinking filtered water and bought the pitcher so that I can keep it at my desk but I definitely noticed that the water tasted so much better then my regular filtered water. I'm drinking much more water because of this and I love it so much that I bought another one so that I can keep one at home and the other one in my office. This model was perfect size for me since it wasn't too big and it wasn't too small. In addition, I love the slick style too.

We have owned our pitcher for about two months, and are very happy with it. The taste of the water is a marked difference from the tap water here in Chicago. Further, the pitcher is reliable and solidly made. Be aware that it is heavy - for the elderly or kids, a full pitcher would be a lot to handle but it works great in our kitchen. We use the water for cooking as well as just drinking water. I can fill up a large pan, refill the filter top and put it aside for a minute or two and have fresh water to fill another pan or for other cooking - simple, just not instantaneous.
Per consumer magazine suggestions, we intend to rely on the taste of the water to tell us when to change the filter. Hence, we don't really care what the filter 'status' indicator is saying.
We used to own an inline filtration system with which we were very happy. We find this water quality equivalent in taste, and adapts well to our apartment living where we cannot install a permanent system. As a result, this pitcher is a great compromise at a low cost.

Brita 42632 Riviera 64-Ounce Water Pitcher and 1 Filter This Brita pitcher was purchased as a gift for a bridal shower. For that reason, I neither opened the package nor used the product. I own a Brita pitcher and am happy with it, but it's an older model, not this particular one. I assume the chrome is more attractive and probably safer than my model, which is all plastic, and the new one could possibly make the water taste better.
My biggest problem was with the shipping, not the product. Unfortunately, the week I needed it was an extreme weather week (Midwest snowstorms), so that my order ended up in half a dozen cities or so before it arrived. It didn't come in time for the shower, and I had to ship it to the bride's home.

I love this pitcher. Our water taste fine out of the faucet but this filter makes it taste great! It filters fast, even when it's empty and I want filtered water it only takes about 20 seconds to filter all i need. It's also nice to have filtered, tasty water to offer guest who are picky about drinking faucet water. My only "CON" is, the indicator is pointless. The filter is suppose to be good for 40 gallons. Like other reviewers, I thought it would be awesome to have an indicator that tells you how many gallons I've filtered, but NO. It just starts it's way down and by about week 8 it just blinks. I still have no idea how to reset it to 100%. To me, that was a waste of a battery (which will also die in about 5 years). I'm still giving it a 5 star review because it does make great tasting water.Customer Review: Brita water pitcher

Had to replace my brita water pitcher that lasted almost 8 years. This is the same pitcher -however in a neat silver color..works great and if I get as many years of service from this one as the last can't complain. My old pitcher was still good it was the filter recorder that died..my kids actually think the water tastes sweeter after being filtered..I use the filtered water in our coffee pot as well as the dehumidifier, it does help the scale build up. I also bought extra filters with my purchase, great price and free shipping..
