Don't believe the negative reviews. I was hesitant about spending the money because of the negative reviews about "the black particles" in the water. Those people complaining are either (1) using the filters for a longer time than they are supposed to or (2) not letting the filter soak for 15 minutes like the directions say.
I let the filter soak for 15 minutes in a cup and didn't have a problem.

We've been using the Brita pitchers for years and just recently upgraded to the Magnum. It's great to have that extra space--we've got clean, tasty water and we don't have to refill it as often. I used to keep mine in the refrigerator, but with this bigger model, we just leave it on *top* of the fridge and dispense from there. It works fine, and I guess room-temp water is better for you, right?Customer Review: Great item!

This is a great item and I could not find it anywhere in stores. It does NOT have that battery operated thing on the top that tells you when to change the filter, which is what I was looking for. It comes with 1 filter. It is a large enough size that I don't have to refill it in the middle of a meal, but also not too heavy. This came very quickly and I actually like this better than I thought would. It is larger and does a great job on the water here, which is no small thing. I used to buy drinking water by the gallon for coffee and ice and this is every bit as good. It will likely pay for itself on its first filter. I would buy it again.Customer Review: Great product

This Brita Pitcher works just as my old one did, however it is much bigger which, for me, is great. Because of its size it might be a bit heavy for some to handle. I like the fact it is bigger because I use a lot of filtered water and I don't have to keep filling it as often as I did the smaller one.
