I have been using this system for a couple of years now. Here's a tip to get rid of the little black particles...If you make sure to keep the water level above the level of the filter at all times, the carbon particles will not get into your water! Good luck!

Makes tap water taste great. Better than most bottled or spring water that you can buy in a store. Keeps those hard water mineral deposits from building up in your coffee pot. The Brita pitcher and filters are great! I used to use Pur, and it drove me nuts. The filter wore out quickly and took forever to filter the water into the pitcher. The Brita filter is fast and lasts much longer before needing to be replaced.
